Initiative underway to join up residents against property developers

The following email is being sent round various networks in London:

‘As residents of Vauxhall, Islington and Shoreditch engaged in planning battles we feel, like so many people, that the impact of London’s regeneration is reaching a crisis-point: the free-for-all for developers is out of control.

There is an urgent need for a London-wide group to represent the collective interests of residents and all those who are caught on the wrong side of the capital’s development plans. The aim would be to create a central meeting point, share information, articulate the issues and begin to take action with a greater chance of being heard.

If you or your campaign or residents group would like to be part of a London-wide alliance, or if you have any comments, please send a reply. We hope to hold an informal meeting in January.

best wishes

Andrea Hofling – from Vauxhall ‘Opportunity Area’, the El Dorado of the South Bank

Susan Haskins – from Mount Pleasant where the Mayor of London determined the Royal Mail development

Lucy Rogers – from Shoreditch where Hammerson wants a wall of towers on the Bishopsgate Goodsyard

and others’
