What is the value of Croydon Libraries to you?

It is National Libraries Day on Saturday, 7 February. The Save of Libraries Campaign says that there is only one event listed in the event listing available in Croydon libraries.

‘It would be great to produce a post with thoughts about why we love Croydon libraries, or libraries in general. What do they mean to you? Why are you so passionate about libraries?

We’d also like to share these thoughts with a fellow library campaigner who is looking to produce a general post about why people value libraries.

Post a comment on the facebook group, tweet to us, or email the comment to SaveCroydonLibraries@gmail.com – include your name, in full or in part, or not at all – your choice! We’ll use it as it is received – i.e we will not disclose more details than you are happy to share.

We don’t want an essay, just your thoughts….

Possible starters might be,

“I love my library because…..”

“My library/libraries is important to me because….”

“I don’t use libraries, but…”

or whatever you like!

The campaign are aware that many refuse to let the cuts to Croydon Libraries affect use but that some users have stopped using Croydon libraries because of the cuts made and the hollowing out of services.

If you have views on this we’d like to know too!

If you know of any events occurring in Croydon libraries to celebrate National Libraries Day, please let us know, so that we can promote it.  We’ve offered to promote an event in Central Library but have still not received the details.  If we do, we’ll let you know.

PLEASE PASS THIS EMAIL ON TO ALL YOU KNOW, within and beyond Croydon. All comments appreciated.  And anyone with an interest in Croydon Libraries can send an email to be added to the circulation list.

Please also encourage people to follow the Twitter account and join the active facebook page below.’
