Wednesday 1 July. 2pm. Guided Walk of the 18th Century Pleasure Gardens

Vauxhall Gardens’ historian David Coke will be leading a guided tour to retrace the sites of the original eighteenth century pleasure gardens. The walk will start from Starbuck’s Coffee House at the southern end of Vauxhall Bridge near the exit from Vauxhall Underground station. It will take in Vauxhall Stairs from which eighteenth century beaux and their ladies would arrive by river to visit the gardens. We will see the site of The Grand Walk, Neptune’s Fountain, the Chinese Pavilion, and Handel’s Statue. The walk will conclude at the Tea House Theatre for tea and sandwiches. £10 admission. Pay on the day. The money raised will be in aid of the St Peter’s Keyed Up! Organ restoration appeal. RSVP via e-mail to Stephen@lindenlea.org
