Croydon Local Plan Briefings

 The consultation on Croydon Council’s Local Plan is underway.

The first public meeting was held on 16 November and the dates of the next ones are:

  • Wednesday 25 November- 4.30pm – 8pm

St John’s Community Hall, Upper Selsdon Road, Selsdon CR2 8DD,(covering Sanderstead, Selsdon and Shirley)

  • Saturday 28 November- 10am – 2pm

Community Space, Bernard Weatherill House, 8 Mint Walk, Croydon CR0 1AE  (on all of Croydon)

  • Wednesday 2 December- 3.30pm – 8pm

Christ Church Methodist Church Hall, 114 Lower Addiscombe Road, Addiscombe CR0 6AD,(on Croydon Opportunity Area, Broad Green & Selhurst, Waddon, South Croydon and Addiscombe)

  • Tuesday 8 December- 3.30pm – 8pm

Purley Baptist Church, Banstead Road, Purley CR8 3EA, (on Purley, Coulsdon and Kenley & Old Coulsdon)

  • Wednesday 9 December- 4pm – 8pm

South Norwood Methodist Church, Suffolk Road, South Norwood SE25 6EG, (on Norbury, Thornton Heath, South Norwood & Woodside and Crystal Palace & Upper Norwood).


 Because the two main consultation documents are over 400 pages long and have to be read alongside each other, I have been through them and have produced a series of Briefing Papers.

Since moving to Norbury in July 2011 I have been active on local economy issues with Croydon TUC and Croydon Assembly, and am a member of the latter's Environment Forum. I am a member of the 5 Norbury Residents Associations Joint Planning Committee, and a Governor of Norbury Manor Primary School. I write for Croydon Citizen at I co-ordinate the Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Croydon Radical History Networks and advise the North East People's History Project.. I give history talks and lead history walks. I retired in 2012 having worked in the community/voluntary sector and on heritage projects. My history interests include labour movement, mutuality, Black British, slavery & abolition, Edwardian roller skating and the social and political use of music and song. I have a particular interest in the histories of Battersea and Wandsworth, Croydon and Lambeth. I have a publishing imprint History & Social Action Publications.
