There is growing despair in the wider labour movement that Croydon Council’s leadership is not seeking to develop wide support to ensure that the damage that will be done by the next round of cuts from April are understood publicly to be due to the Government. Is the War on Waste Labour’s Achilles Heel?

With the Council appearing not to be losing the campaign to reduce fly-tipping and improve street cleaning, plus the proposal to end or charge for the garden waste collection, will this be Croydon Labour’s Achilles Heel. After all unlike virtually everything else the one Council activity – or in the view of many non-activity – that every resident sees on a daily basis.
