Healthwatch will grant aid events re-health

Would you like to run an activity/event for local people that is fun AND allows the NHS to speak to individuals about their experiences of health services? A maximum of £750 per event is available. Example of events include tea dances; pottery classes; pizza and movie afternoons, cultural activities etc.

Healthwatch Croydon would like to fund activities and events that would be enjoyable for Croydon residents and give them an opportunity to share their views with a member of staff from the NHS.

Closing date for 1st round applications: – Monday 21 August by noon sent to yinka.alowooja@healthwatchcroydon.co.uk

The Lord Napier Public House, 111 Beulah Road, Thornton Heath

Parkheath Estates Limited is the licence holder of this historic pub according to a Freedom of Information reply to Gorge Faros. The Croydon & Sutton branch of CAMRA says that the pub was ‘a Young’s pub from Victorian times, becoming famous for jazz in the late 1960s. At one time it was ‘London’s premier jazz pub’ with many famous musicians appearing. The Jazz tradition continued more recently on Thursday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes. The single bar is decorated in a jazz theme, opening into the music venue with doors either side of the real fire.’
